Hey there,
As we close another month (September) and step into a new one (October), I’m reminded of a simple yet powerful truth: be a person of action.
Here’s the takeaway I want you to keep in mind: Stop thinking, stop strategizing, and start doing.
You can't read about doing pushups—you have to actually do them.
In the same way, you can't overthink your way to success.
It’s time to get out of your head and start chasing your dreams. Action is everything.
Producer vs. Consumer: Your Key to Growth
Last week, I mentioned how important it is to be a producer, not a consumer.
When you look at the world, it’s made up of two groups—those who produce and those who consume.
What sets these two groups apart in terms of success and stagnation is often this simple principle: are you creating value or just consuming it?
I challenge you to take this mindset into everything you do this coming month.
Whether you’re growing a business, building relationships, or honing a skill—produce more than you consume.
Video Uptake on the Rise
If you’re paying attention to social media trends, you’ve likely noticed an increase in short-form video content, especially on LinkedIn, Instagram even here on Substack.
Video is taking center stage, and LinkedIn just rolled out more video features in the feed.
It's worth checking out if you want to engage your audience better.
Also, LinkedIn is introducing the ability to sponsor newsletters—another opportunity to amplify your message.
Outside of LinkedIn, we’ve seen growth in niche communities on Mastodon, Threads, and Bluesky.
These platforms are seeing an uptick in subscribers and are worth keeping on your radar as alternative spaces for meaningful engagement.
Embrace the “Octopus” Mindset
One of the most interesting things I read this month came from Dave Kang’s newsletter on Substack, where he introduced the concept of “Octopus People.”
It’s fascinating.
Kang talks about his new project, the Octopus Project, where he plans to make a living through up to 8 different “jobs” simultaneously.
Not over employment, but multiple ways to earn a living—some of them completely unrelated.
He describes the traits of an “Octopus Person”:
Diverse interests that may or may not overlap.
A curious and exploratory mindset.
Highly adaptable and creative.
Self-sufficient with a knack for solving problems by intersecting different concepts.
This resonates deeply with me, especially the idea that there’s no “one thing” we are meant to do in life.
What if, instead of finding your one true calling, your purpose is to explore as many different interests and skills as possible?
Imagine living like an octopus—meandering around, exploring your environment, changing direction when needed, adapting quickly, and finding your own way.
It’s a reminder that life isn’t always about doing one thing perfectly; it’s about trying many things and allowing yourself to evolve.
Let me know what you think about this in the comments.

Wake Up to Your Purpose
Getting up early isn’t always easy, I get it.
But this week, a quote from Marcus Aurelius’s Meditations stood out to me:
"At dawn, when you have trouble getting out of bed, tell yourself: 'I have to go to work—as a human being. What do I have to complain of, if I’m going to do what I was born for? Or is this what I was created for? To huddle under the blankets and stay warm?'
This really struck a chord.
We all have a purpose, but it’s easy to stay in our comfort zone (aka, under the blankets).
The real challenge is getting up every day and working toward what we were born to do.
If you’re struggling to stay motivated, remind yourself of your purpose, and let that fuel your day.
30-Day Clarity Challenge: How’s It Going?
Earlier this month, I shared the 30-Day Clarity Challenge framework to help bring more focus and insight into your life.
We’re approaching the final mark, and I’ve already noticed some interesting patterns emerging in my reflections—things I like, things I don’t, and areas where I need to refocus.
If you haven’t joined yet, here’s a quick refresher:
Every day, take 15 minutes to ask yourself:
What filled me with enthusiasm today?
What drained my energy today?
What did I learn about myself today?
At the end of the month, reflect on your answers.
The clarity you’ll gain will be invaluable. If you’re ready to jump in, you can read more about it here.
Interesting Find this week
This week, I discovered an incredible company in Kenya that focuses on sustainable lighting design and solutions.
They create unique light fixtures and lamps using the fruit of the Baobab tree (Adansonia digitata), an ancient African tree also known as the 'Tree of Life.'
These trees mainly grow along the Kenyan coastline, and their work beautifully blends nature with innovation.
Be sure to check out their amazing creations on Instagram at Seedling Designs, where sustainability meets artistry in lighting.

Final Thoughts: Stop Thinking, Start Doing
As we move into a new month, I want you to embrace action.
Stop overthinking. Stop strategizing.
Go do.
Push yourself out of your comfort zone and watch what happens.
If you found any part of this newsletter valuable, please share it with a friend.
The more we share these insights, the more we all grow together.
Until next time,
Griffiths
